Alternative machinery for integrating proteins into bacterial membranes Apr 30, 2023 – A research study led by SFB 1381 PI Hans-Georg Koch and supported by SFB PIs Claudine Kraft and Annegret Wilde showed that mRNA targeting of membrane proteins functions as an alternative strategy for the canonical signal-recognition particle dependent protein-targeting pathway. Publication in Cell Reports.

SFB 1381 Workshop “Analysis of Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Complexes and Supercomplexes by Blue Native-PAGE” Aug 18, 2022 – In September 2022, SFB 1381 offers a workshop on the use of Blue Native PolyAcrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (BN-PAGE) for the analysis of membrane protein complexes. It is open to SFB 1381 members willing to apply BN-PAGE for their own research projects.
A Protein Machinery at Work Aug 1, 2022 – SFB 1381 PI Oliver Einsle and his group have unravelled the assembly of an enzyme that detoxifies the greenhouse gas N2O. Publication in Nature.
SFB 1381 Event “Women in Science” a Success Jul 6, 2022 – In a panel discussion Dr. Valérie Hilgers, Prof. Dr. Nora Vögtle and Prof. Dr. Annegret Wilde talked about their own personal experiences as women in academia. All three are SFB 1381 PIs who brought various experiences to the table: they are at different career stages and thus could reflect on a variety of career experiences.
Application open for EIRA-Mentoring for female Postdocs Jun 29, 2022 – SFB 1381 female Postdocs have the opportunity to participate in EIRA-Mentoring, a programme provided by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Freiburg. Application to the programme is possible until July 15th, 2022 and is open to female postdocs interested in becoming full professors.
